Why have we not already taken action to help protect our bodies. I have to say that I have not be dissappointed with any of them yet. There were so many thing that are in the items that I put on my body that cause it harm. This book is full of so many great reasources too. The best part is that she doesn't leave you high and dry. I guess to say that this book is life changing is understood, because if you are buying it, it is probably because you are wanting to change certaint things about your life.
I do have to say that the chapter that I found the most interesting, and life changing was the chapter that covered beauty. She brings up such a good point in the book, that the skin is our largest organ, and that everything we put on it, is absorbed into our body. If so, then this book is definetly for you. She tells you great reasonably priced alternatives to try. If you want to take it ever further into your diet, you should also look into Sophie's book "The Gorgeously Green Diet." Sophie Uliano doesn't just stop at diet, she also covers beauty, excercise, shopping etc.
I had no idea.
It has changed my life and whether they like it or not, everyone around me :). Sophie takes you through every aspect of living green while making you feel great about it, even if you only do one thing a day. This is the most comprehensive book on going green I have ever read. Every female on the planet should read it.
Would buy from this seller again. Fast service. Book was in great condition. I have this book, and bought one for a friend. She loves it.
Were it not for these heroes, species like the California condor, the Arabian oryx, and the Giant Panda would not have been brought back from the brink of extinction. The money raised by zoos is used to promote such causes as education, conservation, and species survival. While Ms. Uliano may not be aware that the "wild" that she so righteously touts is not the safe haven for these creatures that it may once have been.
Ms. If Ms. Uliano may be up late at night with online shopping, zookeepers are up late tending to a sick animal, participating in a new birth, or providing round-the-clock care for a youngster abandoned by its mother. Uliano's antiquated and uninformed comments regarding the treatment of animals in zoos and theme parks are highly insulting to the tireless efforts of zoological personnel.
Most other cultures do not hold wildlife in such high esteem as the financial abundance of America allows us to do. Uliano would care to look out from underneath her designer cosmetics and really help preserve the planet, she would not flagrantly attack the very institutions who are working harder towards that goal than she is. The animals in their care are considered to be priceless treasures, and they are physically, emotionally, and mentally better cared for than humans. With poaching, habitat encroachment, and civil wars threatening wildlife all across the globe, Ms.
What makes Gorgeously Green different from other books I've read on the topic is the practical green advice about beauty, fitness, fashion and other topics that were left out of green in the past. I appreciate all the web links and specific product recommendations.
However, she balances this with some less expensive suggestions and make-it-yourself recipes for beauty treatments, cleaning products, etc. My only criticism is that many of the products she recommends are a bit pricey.
I'm no newbie to green. Her self-deprecating humor strikes just the right tone for me as I guiltily admit (to myself) that I have avoided looking into my hair dye for fear that I'd have to give up and go gray to be green.
I refer to this book at least once a week & will be giving it as a gift to friends on special occasions. We compost, have rain barrels, and I'm a nearly fanatic recycler.
Author Sophie Uliano has dared to admit that she doesn't want to give up her passion for all things feminine and beautiful on her quest to live an earth-friendly life.
